This writing course really improves my writing skills a lot. It has an impact for my further life as well. The ‘Company Project’ from Accounting is a good evidence of how MCOM 104 helps! The strategies taught from the course such as the linking words. Run on sentence is another thing I become aware off.


Originally, I don’t understand the importance of the linking words. So my essay was usually lack of the flow. Audience usually found it hard to follow my thinking. But when I read a page about linking words from our course reading, I realised the importance of the linking words. Therefore when I write for my assignment, I start to think about how to use the linking words to make my assignment more logical.

Another useful thing I learnt from this course is stop to use the run on sentences. I have realised to make a sentence short and simple is more important to make the sentence long and complex. To stop use the run on sentences help my essay more clear and easier to read for the audience.

The weaknesses I still have are the grammar mistakes and sentences structure. In Chinese, we do not have the idea of the tenses. When we talk about the past, we just add a time frame at the beginning of the sentence. Thus the problem of tenses in English is really a problem for me. To improve this problem, I think it will be useful to read more English literature. Therefore I can be more familiar with the English writing style and this will help me to improve my writing skills.
